Ty Wilkinson Resume

Frisco Sports Network

Play-by-Play and Color Commentator

Starting in Frisco, Texas as a junior in high school I enrolled in Sports Broadcasting, a course organized in presenting student opportunities to commentate, produce, direct, and sideline report live broadcasts through diverse high school sporting events. The course administered by Steven Doherty, offered many commentator opportunities in a variety of sports, in charge of organizing on-air elements to the diverse 12 different high school campuses zoned in Frisco ISD. Through both the NFHS Network and NBC Sports Engine streaming providers, I have called Football, Baseball, Basketball, Swim and Dive, Track and Field, and plenty of other sporting events. Continuing my enrollment in this program till my senior year, I was provided advanced experience, growth of sports knowledge, and proper work ethic at the high school level.

Frisco RoughRiders

Clubhouse Assistant

During my sophomore year of high school, I was hired by the Frisco RoughRiders Baseball organization, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers. My experience within the Roughriders had a wide variety of positions and differences. Some of which are as a clubhouse assistant to the franchise. Working within the locker room with players, laundry, and check marking tasks to be done around the ballpark. On the rare occasion I would be a batboy for the Roughriders or the visiting away team’s dugout with the responsibility of grabbing bats and batting gear when a player would get on base. I also worked in ticket sales and as a seat usher during my duration of work for Frisco. Working in these departments gave me lots of social experiences and allowed me to bond with members of the ballpark.

Dallas Stars Practice Facility

Front Desk Attendant and Hockey Coach

Employed in early September of 2022 by Allison Carlson originally as a desk worker at the official practice facility of the Dallas Stars organization prior to the conclusion of my inaugural season with the Frisco RoughRiders. My title was a front desk worker for the StarCenter in Frisco (Comerica Center). My job description had me in charge of checking members in for hockey lessons, enrolling skaters in programs and skate guarding the ice during open skating sessions. My secondary position is hockey/skating coach for the “Little Rookies” program which was introduced by retired Dallas Star player Mike Modano. A group lesson for kids, teens, and adults to learn the basics and fundamentals of hockey to play for themselves.

KSL Sports Rewind

Play-by-Play and Color Commentator

As a freshman moving to Provo, Utah and attending my first semester at Brigham Young University, I was able to make connections within the sports broadcasting program at BYU and continue my on-air commentary from Texas to Utah via KSL Sports Rewind. KSL broadcasts high school and college sporting events for the entire state of Utah to view. The company is owned and operated by Dusty Litster, with me being one of many on air commentators for KSL Sports Rewind. In this opportunity I called various Utah sporting events all over the Utah and Salt Lake valley. Different sports and different broadcast partners I were able to call games with along the way helped me to better expand my commentary into a more professional setting. With the experience of working playoff games for football, baseball, and basketball I can show that I can handle pressure in big moments.

BYUtv - BYU Sports Nation

Editor and Content Creator

Prior to moving to Utah studying at Brigham Young University, I got a job with BYU Sports Nation on BYUtv. The morning show airs 12 ET on BYUtv to discuss what is happening in BYU sports. The show features Spencer Linton and Jarom Jordan who are both on air hosts discussing trending topics of BYU sports. Hired by Ben Bagley, my job description is to be a content creator, assistant director, and an opportunity to be a producer. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, I clip and engineer various plays through our in-game broadcast folder, which gives us access to different angles of almost every play that happened during a BYU game. Workers of the broadcast each day attend pre- and post-show meetings, making requests and ideas for what can be featured on the show.

Working for BYUtv as a freshman, I was introduced to live sports opportunities working within sports broadcasting. Starting in March I was a fill in representative for BYU Baseball and BYU Softball programs in the BIG XII Conference. TOC (Time on clock) was my fill in roll for live TV in and out of commercial break for ESPN+. Coordinating with the Umpires as well as line producers to let scheduled advertisements play for their scheduled duration in between innings. On the stats side I would fill in printed scorecards and take with me to BYUtv for submissive results and to make highlighted packages for the morning show on BYUSN.

Play-by-Play and Color Commentator

I had the opportunity to call 2 live broadcasted games for the Provo Predators hockey team. The Predators of the USPHL NCDC league are an organization for college recruitment in allowing players to showcase their talent for college scouts in search of players. This opportunity allowed me to improve my broadcasting in preparation, writing, designing broadcast prep sheets, and coaching interviews between intermissions of the game. Although I was just filling in for Provo’s main play-by-play commentator Patrick Parett, I was still able to get experience commentating one of my favorite sports growing up as a kid.
